ABSTRACT:

This file contains patches for the NetWare Btrieve 5.10 family.  The patches
are for NetWare Btrieve VAP, NetWare Btrieve NLM, Btrieve for DOS, Btrieve for
Windows, and Btrieve for OS/2.

SYMPTOM

     Known problems in Btrieve version 5.10/5.11.

SOLUTION

     This set of patches in BTR510.EXE contains batch files to correct all the
     known problems in Btrieve version 5.10/5.11.  The patches are for DOS,
     OS/2, Windows, NLM, and VAP environments.

     Installation Instructions:

     To install the patches, follow these steps:

     1.   Copy all the files to the directory on your system that contains
          each file to be patched and make this the default directory.

     Patching a patched version may cause unpredictable errors.

     2.   Make sure that you are patching the original (unpatched) released
          version of the software.

     3.   Make sure that PI.EXE is available on the system.  (PI.EXE is a
          patch utility provided by Novell to install product patches; it may
          be used in DOS or OS/2 environments).

     4.   Run each batch file relevant to your situation:

          PATCH510.BAT:       This file corrects the NLM (NetWare 3.10), VAP,
                              DOS, and OS2 versions

          PATCH510.CMD:       This file is the same as PATCH510.BAT file. 
                              This batch file is for use under OS/2.

          PATCH511.BAT:       This file corrects the Btrieve NLM version that
                              shipped with NetWare 3.11

          Files with a .ORG extension are the original unpatched version of
          the product (for the OS/2 products a .OS2 extension is the original
          unpatched version of the product).  They are created the first time
          you patch the ORIGINAL software for the file specified.

     *** MAKE SURE THE FIRST TIME YOU PATCH THAT YOU ARE PATCHING THE ORIGINAL
     AND NOT A PATCHED COPY

     * NOTE:   A parameter list is given when you type the batch file name.

     version 5.10 and 5.11 (NLM only).  The patches are for DOS, OS/2,

     the patch files as well as a couple of patches that are optional, so

     there is a listing in which each version a bug is relevant.

     with NetWare 3.11) that will be fixed by applying the patch files as well
     as a couple of patches that are optional, so please read the document.
